<<Back to Residential Projects Log Home:Challenge –Designing a log home is a particular
challenge because the interior walls are typically wooden logs.
Furniture wood tones can easily get lost against such a backdrop.
There were other built in challenges. The floor plan for this
project was very compact, with small rooms to work with. My client’s
leanings were toward modern furniture, a stark contrast to the
rustic architecture. I wanted to find a design to solve all of these
needs. Solution –The design solution was geared around my choice to
use Arts & Crafts styling. This early modern design fit in perfectly
within the log interior without sacrificing the client’s love of
modern style. I used mosaic tile in the bathroom and kitchen. Arts &
Crafts stained glass and fabric room dividers provided visual
contrast and color against the wood tones. |
